PEOPLE
Introduction by founder and chief executive Lyn Witheridge

I feel the Trust can be justly proud of the way it  achieved so much recognition, that it become the natural focus for the diverse needs and agenda that this subject elicits. The charitable work we carried out was hugely demanding and complex, requiring a range of skills, sensitivities and partnership working. No one should underestimate the amount of emotional and physical energy that had been given to this important work.

My life for the past 15 years has been in the development of the Charity, an experience cherished beyond measure, but sadly when it became apparent that my health was suffering as a result, it was time to pass on the charitable baton to others who shared my passion in the fight against workplace bullying, and urge them to continue with our work.

I owe a great debt of thanks to all those involved both in the formation and the development of the Trust and for their personal support.  Their kind words on the closure of the Trust is a positive memory I will carry with me in the founding and continuation of our consultancy services under the Andrea Adams Consultancy.

With their continued support and dedication I am confident that we will find creative ways to respond to the exciting and challenging years ahead.

PETER MEAD - Chairman of Omnicom Europe Ltd, Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group Inc

"I have always believed that psychological bullying is one of the scourges of our society but when it takes place in a working envirnment it is not only an affront to people's dignity but also very corrosive to culture and productivity in any company where it occurs.  I am very proud of the work that my collegaues at the Andrea Adams Trust have done; though we all know we are just scratching the surface".

PAT TURNBULL - Director Crisp Thinking Ltd

Pat Turnbull

"There is no place for psychological bullying in a civilised environment and the progress that the Andrea Adams Trust has made, in increasing awareness of the issue as well as providing professional support and education, for both industry and the individual is impressive.  However there is still much work to be done in getting this whole issue into the public arena and I am proud to be working with such a focussed and dedicated team committed to the eradication of this destructive element in society".

"I believe that the work of the Andrea Adams Trust in making work places free of stress and bullying is of the first importance.  Bullying is never an answer to problems at work.  It almost always leads to worse problems and sometimes very severe problems indeed.  Employers need all the support they can get to create the systems and knowledge necessary to stop it.  Employees need to know there is a source of information on how to address it.  So I am very proud and delighted that Cloisters has been able to work with the Trust".

BRUCE HAINES

"It is unfortunate but a hard fact that psychological bullying will always be a distressing part of workplace life but that does not mean it should be tolerated - either by those being bullied or by their management.  For far too long, confronting this affront to decency, fairness and productivity has been considered a low priority business.  The intense suffering of so many people has gone unnoticed or dealt with as just an isolated and rare occurence.  The Andrea Adams Trust has done British industry and our wider society an invaluable service by increasing awareness of the issue, providing support for the bullied and giving management the means to tackle the problem.  I am proud to be associated with their work."
